How to Guest Blog

Guest blogging is a service you're offering to the blogger. If the blogger is a sole propietor, coming up with fresh content on a daily basis can be difficult. And if the blog is a conglomeration of blogs, such as The Kill Zone, you still bring some variation in voice and viewpoint.

But even with that variation, you shouldn't stray too much from what the blog's readers expect. The best way to approach a guest blogging slot is the same way you'd approach a freelance opportunity. Read the blog and get a feel for what the blogger and readers expect. Check with the blogger to see if they have limits on length of any style preferences. After that, your goal is to write to their requirements and make it as easy as possible for them to integrate your content.

In return for writing the blog entry, you should expect to mention your book and link to your website or to the Amazon page for your book.

Of course, a thank you note afterwards is always a nice touch, as is a link to the blog from your blog or website.

In the end, everyone wins. Your readers may start visiting that blog. Their readers might buy your book and visit your website. The search page rankings of both sites will also improve.
